KINO CAIRO is a filmmaking collective committed to watching, discussing and creating inspired cinema.
Through its activities, KINO CAIRO seeks to build a framework for an alternative filmmaking culture and
nurture the emerging generation of independent Egyptian filmmakers.
KINO CAIRO began as a film club organizing curated screenings across Cairo.
The initiative launched in April 2022 with a series entitled A Generation of Egyptian Cinema from 1988-2010.
Five Egyptian films were screened alongside engaged discussions with film directors. Other past series include Cinema & the City,
Daring Debuts, Days of Running Wild: An Evening of Shorts and most recently Summer of Sophomores.
